ICC Evaluation Services ("ICC-ES") recently reissued ESR-3772 to remove recognition of cracked concrete and seismic design for Red Head Trubolt+ wedge anchors. As a result, Red Head is voluntarily withdrawing certain Red Head Trubolt and Trubolt+ wedge anchors from the marketplace while internal and independent testing is conducted and we continue to work with ICC-ES.

1. Why are we voluntarily withdrawing certain Red Head wedge anchors?

ICC-ES recently reissued ESR-3772 to remove recognition of cracked concrete and seismic design for Red Head Trubolt+ wedge anchors. Out of an abundance of caution, we are voluntarily withdrawing certain Red Head Trubolt and Trubolt+ wedge anchors from the marketplace while internal and independent testing is conducted and we continue to work with ICC-ES.

2. Which Red Head wedge anchors are affected by the voluntary product withdrawal?

A list of affected Red Head wedge anchors is available here for U.S. products and here for Canadian products. This voluntary product withdrawal only affects products purchased in the U.S. beginning in October 2015 and in Canada

3. Can uninstalled Red Head wedge anchors be returned?

Yes. Red Head wedge anchors on the affected product list (available here for U.S. products and here for Canadian products) that were purchased in the U.S. beginning in October 2015 and in Canada beginning in July 2016 should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

4. Is it safe to install Red Head wedge anchors that have already been purchased?

Red Head wedge anchors on the affected product list (available here for U.S. products and here for Canadian products) are no longer recognized by ICC-ES for use in cracked concrete and seismic applications. If you purchased affected product in the U.S. beginning in October 2015 or in Canada beginning in July 2016, the product should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

5. Have there been any reports of failures with installed Red Head wedge anchors?

No. There have been no reports of failures of installed Red Head wedge anchors in any applications.
